    SMS Verification

    Are there any third party options for Miva for an SMS feature similar to the below:

    from Shopify Pay:

    "After entering their shipping and payment details, shoppers can opt-in to have their information saved with Shopify Pay. Next time they check out at any store powered by Shopify, they’ll simply type in their email address, followed by a verification code they receive via SMS.
    Shipping and payment information will be pre-filled and customers can complete the purchase with a single tap or click.

    Shopify Pay is available to consumers everywhere, using any device or browser."

    Yea. Miva Pay. Only without the nonsense of sending SMS messages or having to have your phone handy when ordering. (Not everyone lives on their phones)

      MivaPay's stored data is specific to a given site; it won't work in the same manner where just knowing someone's email address, and having access to receive SMS at their number, gets you the ability to pay as them, and see their address information. MivaPay does let a shopper store multiple credit cards and set up subscriptions on a given site though, so if the goal is just to have stored cards for a website, MivaPay facilitates that but does so via password.

      It will be interesting to see what consumers think about this feature; I personally would not want just an SMS standing between someone and my billing/shipping info, or the ability to pay for something as me on any of thousands of websites. It may also lead to some confusion about sites being related given "Hey, they already have my payment info." I tend to use ApplePay whenever possible, for ease of checkout and so my card doesn't touch any additional parties.

        The feature that the client found convenient was NOT having to remember another login and password to checkout. I know I have the same problem when shopping - I go to checkout on my phone and realize I can't get into my account because I don't remember my password. The "Shopify Pay" circumvented that via the text/SMS authorization. It looks like MivaPay still requires you to login to your miva account to checkout correct?

        It doesn't have to work on multiple sites - although they do have two sister companies and sites so it would be neat if those were tied together - not necessary though.

        I looked at ApplePay but do you still have to login to checkout? And it looks like only 4 merchant providers are supported: First Data Nashville, Chase Paymentech Solutions, Global Payments, TSYS Acquiring Solutions?

          Correct on the password aspect; that would be part of MivaPay currently. I'll start a discussion internally about this.

          For ApplePay, during checkout you can simply complete your transaction from the store's basket screen typically; the store would detect if you're shopping from an ApplePay-enabled browser/device, and show the button if so, you click, fingerprint or face-ID to your touchbar or device, and you're done; all your info is auto submitted and payment taken.

          Currently the gateways supported for our implementation of ApplePay are authorize.net and Braintree with Chase and Cybersource in the works (I'll confirm and update if I'm incorrect)

            I thought the credit card processor had to be compatible, as well as the gateway. They are currently using Authorize.net for the gateway. Which credit card processors are compatible?

              Bolt offers this type of functionality -- it'll remember a customer's information on any site using bolt. Previous customers can literally checkout with two clicks. That said, they only take on stores doing 1M+. One of my clients was one of their first Miva stores & it wasn't a particularly easy setup. I suspect it'll be a lot easier moving forward. I love the simplicity of their checkout process. You can see it on sites like watches.com, or demo it on bolt.com.

                Had a nice conversation with the guys at the Bolt booth at MivaCon19. It's a great product but you have to be doing a really high dollar amount as mentioned.

                  Agreed, I'm really looking forward to the day when this is offered to a much wider audience. I would love to use it on more sites. I understand why, but it can be frustrating when some of the greatest e-commerce services available only cater to enterprise clients. Makes it harder for smaller businesses to compete & grow.

                        Our applepay stopped working just when we added a public client key to our miva > payment settings > authorize.net settings for security (required by Authorize.net). Miva says that their applepay module registers our sites with Apple for us, and works independent of Authorize.net and your Apple Developer account - although some Miva posts in their forums state you must have Authorize.net/Braintree AND a compatible merchant processor (which we do). There's some contradictory posts about it.

                        Ultimately our applepay hasn't worked since late April. Anyone else running into problems with the ApplePay module recently?

                          We have been working with https://route.com/ to get Miva customers integrated with their software. They are a package insurance and tracking software company so customers can add package insurance to their orders and also get tracking with SMS, email and through their app. The integration cost are being covered and there is not monthly fee as long as you are using the package protection insurance on the site.
