Search Preview and Combo Facets Cookie

I just confirmed this scenario on a client's store.

I can first search and get a result. Then, when using the Combo Facet to find a product (no reset), return to standard and won't be able to find a product. When I do the Combo Facet reset of the values, I can find a product is the standard search.

Not sure if this is a bug, but the cookie appears to be the lynchpin. Is the lack of results intended?
