Ok, then you're not using MySQL. Remove the 'username|password'. When you login to your live store do you see this:

Production Release 6
Miva Merchant Engine v5.06
Database API: mysql

or this:

Production Release 6
Miva Merchant Engine v5.06
Database API: mivasql

What's Mia's configured DATA path and what is the folder listing in that directory?

1. remove the /mm5/ from the HTML configuration.
2. is there a merchdb.dat w/in DATA?

Is your live store reporting mivasql or mysql? You did not answer my first question.

1. Did this. However, the admin.mvc file and many others are in the mm5 subdirectory. Should they all be up a level in HTML?
2. Yes. Again, though, all the files I downloaded from our live site are in the Merchant5 subdir. Should they all be directly under DATA?

Sorry, I'm not sure how to determine if our live store is reporting mivasql or mysql. I'm in a bit over my head!

1. The mm5 folder stays in the HTML directory. Move nothing.
2. No you should have a Merchant5 folder in DATA along with a merchdb.dat file and upgrade.xml file.

Login to your live store and click on Main. You should see this:

Production Release 6
Miva Merchant Engine v5.06
Database API: mysql

or this:

Production Release 6
Miva Merchant Engine v5.06
Database API: mivasql

Who is your host provider? You might be better off with having them create you a development sub-domain.

You at least have the correct files in the correct place. The error you're getting means that Mia is not detecting the database files. This is why you're prompted to run setup. Are you able to login to the live store?

If you're using mivasql like I suspect you should be able to get the store running locally fairly easily. Login to your live store and click on Main. You will see the database API line will display mivasql or MySQL.

I checked on the live site and it does have mivasql listed as the Database API. So how would I proceed?



BTW--I can open the admin.mvc login screen but when I enter the UN/PW it just goes to a blank screen.

Ok, progress. Did you change the HTML path to just HTML. The last screenshot had the path mapped into mm5.

When I change it to HTML, I get this msg

404 Not FoundThe file '/' was not found on this server

The admin.mvc file is in mm5 subfolder in HTML so that's why I've been including mm5 in the path.

What is the URL you are typing into the browser? What is the URL you use to login at the live store? When you go to the live store is /mm5/ in the URL? I'm assuming it is. This is why you do not include it in the path to HTML.

Your local path should be 127.0.0.1:8000/mm5/admin.mvc?

The port number can vary depending on your system and how many instances of Mia you have running. Most of the time you'll be on port 8000 with Mia.

I plugged in 127.0.0.1:8000/mm5/admin.mvc? and got the login prompt but when I entered UN/PW this time, I got this runtime msg:

Make sure you downloaded all of the files from FTP. Just to make sure it's not some odd permissions issue please update the security settings on the mivadata and HTML directories. For testing just make the files/folders open for EVERYONE. Make sure you click on Advanced and select recursive for all child objects.
