Re: Setting up Miva Mia with Miva Merchant v4.14-v5.0

Bingo!!! Jim, I can't thank you enough for sticking with me and all my "novice" issues in getting this to work. I'll play around with it and make sure it's all working but the first few things I tried were working fine. Much appreciated!

      Streaming Update problem.

I am running Miva Merchant5 on my local Windows XP running Emresa and having trouble in streaming update. The following is the error message I am getting.

Error Code: MER-UPG-UTL-00003 Description: Unable to download list of available patches
and the current status of the system

      Database API: mysql
      Production Release 6
(BUNDLE VERSION - NOT TO BE SOLD SEPARATELY)
      Miva Merchant Engine v5.06
How can I fix the problem?

      Thanks you.

Install this tool into the home directory and run it. Does the license manager test pass?

You need to install OpenSSL. Please go back and review the first post in this thread:

              That was it.
By the way, the link to OpenSSL should be changed to

I've completely redesigned our website and am ready to go live with it. I made a separate post (with no replies yet) asking if it's simply a matter of copying the new files from Mia to the live website in order to update the website. Is it that simple, or is there more to it?

Is this just a redesign or did you add products or make any other changes that are not part of the store design?

It's just a redesign--no new products were added in Mia, but I did create new pages. In fact, I've now migrated all my website's pages to "within" Miva so I can use items and entities on all pages and not lose sessions as I used to when users moved from within Miva to page outside of it. I did extensive work on existing Miva page layouts, created a new style sheet, added javascripts, etc.

Ok, the easiest way to migrate the new design would be to upload your new style sheet and then copy/paste the new pages into the live store. The store would have to be in maintenance mode of course. This will ensure that the new design is implemented without deleting/overwriting customer records, orders etc.

Thanks. We don't use the customer account feature, so if we cleared out all the existing orders beforehand, is there a more "wholesale" way to migrate. The pages are not so much an issue, but there are 60 products and each would need the page, header/footer and, in some cases, images cut/pasted. If that's the only way, I'll plan on it, but if there's any other method...it would be a big time saver!

The only issue you could run into by overwriting everything would be a repeat of order numbers. If this does not create any problems for your accounting then you can simply upload the "new" store and overwrite the current live site.

I am looking for help with my Miva Mia setup. I have read through the various threads in this forum and have tried what seemed appropriate.
(I'm not even sure this is the correct approach to getting help, but hopefully...)
                              These are my details:
                              - Downloaded Miva Mia Version 5.05
                              - Downloaded MySQL Server 5.1
                              - Downloaded Win32 Open SSL
                              - FTP files from our live site (on Hostasaurus) to MivaMia folder -
all files/folders from httpdocs folder to HTML folder
all files/folders from /private/mivadata/ to DATA folder
The "Welcome to MIVA Mia" home page appears when using the link in the MivaMia properties window.
Trying to log in to http://127.0.0.1/Merchant2/admin.mvc yields an error reading, "Miva Merchant has not been initialized. Please use the MIVA Merchant Setup script to initialize the required data files. " I have seen this mentioned in various messages in this thread and am not sure if I should be running this script (or how to do this).
We had a outside consultant upgrade our site to MM5, but never had him set up MivaMia locally for us to test changes.
Any suggestions as to my next steps would be appreciated.

Did you modify your merchdb.dat file located in mivadata so your store knows where to connect to the MySQL database? Have you installed the MySQL.DLL connector in Miva Mia?

Also, just to point it out. There is no Miva Mia version 5.05. You're most likely using v5.06 as this has been the latest release for a number of years.
