We can't delete our own posts?

Wonder if there is a reason Miva set up the board so that a user cannot delete their own post? (or did I miss something?)

I don't like that at all! Is this something Miva might consider enabling?

I thought that's pretty typical of forums. You can edit them, but not delete them.

That's quite common and I think it's acceptable. On the email lists you couldn't delete the email that went out.

Pretty much what Pamela said. :D

At this point I will not enable the ability to delete posts. The point of the forums is to keep an archive and we don't want to lose posts accidently.

If you really don't want your post there or a footprint that you posted, you can contact any of the moderators and we will consider deleting it. It will be a rare exception when we do decide to delete a post though.

From the very beginning we said we would only remove inappropriate comments about other people, groups, ethnicities, etc. We will continue with that practice and that includes not deleting posts just because a poster thought better of it after the fact.

You can edit a post though. At this time there is no set time limit on the edit button, you just have to to hope that someone hasn't quoted you already =).

I just posted, then deleted, then re-post :)

Exactly, but there's no CYA for that. It's just as easy to say, "He misquoted me." I know it seems this would never be a problem, but I've seen it to be a problem on most every board I've been on. Which is why most have a time limit on editing.

              Just my two cents.

Hmmm, seems one of my posts in another thread was just deleted.

Hi guys, registered users were never intended to delete their own posts. This feature has been removed.

At this point, I will leave editing of posts to be available indefinitey. This may change in the future, or if it's a feature that is being abused.

                  Thanks!

Right, but I didn't delete that post myself.
